Why Miami Is a World-Class Fishing Destination

Miami Beach sits at the crossroads of some of the most productive fishing grounds in the Atlantic Ocean. The Gulf Stream, a powerful warm-water current, flows just three to five miles off the coast, carrying with it a staggering concentration of pelagic gamefish. This proximity is virtually unmatched anywhere else on the Eastern Seaboard, giving anglers direct access to deep blue water without spending hours in transit.

The subtropical climate means fishing never stops in South Florida. While northern waters freeze over in winter, Miami Beach delivers comfortable temperatures and productive bites twelve months a year. From the legendary sailfish run in winter to mahi-mahi blitzes in spring and summer, there is always a reason to drop a line. The convergence of Biscayne Bay, Government Cut, and the open Atlantic creates a diverse marine ecosystem that supports everything from reef species to open-ocean predators.

Whether you are an experienced angler chasing a bucket-list billfish or a family looking for a fun day on the water hauling in snappers, Miami Beach offers the kind of fishing diversity that keeps people coming back season after season.

Types of Fishing Trips We Offer

Our fleet supports a wide range of fishing styles, so you can tailor the experience to match your skill level and target species.

🌊

Inshore Fishing

Fish the flats, bridges, and channels of Biscayne Bay for snook, tarpon, and bonefish. Perfect for calm-water days and sight-fishing enthusiasts.

Offshore Fishing

Head to the reef line and wrecks between one and three miles out. Target kingfish, cobia, barracuda, and snapper with trolling and bottom techniques.

🎣

Deep Sea Fishing

Venture into the Gulf Stream for the big game. Sailfish, mahi-mahi, wahoo, blackfin tuna, and blue marlin await in the deep blue waters.

Bottom Fishing

Drop down to the reefs and wrecks for yellowtail snapper, mutton snapper, grouper, and amberjack. A great option for putting dinner on the table.

🪈

Kite Fishing

A South Florida specialty. Live baits are suspended from kites on the surface, creating an irresistible presentation for sailfish and other top predators.

What to Bring

We take care of the fishing gear, but a few personal items will make your trip much more comfortable.

Seasickness Tip: If you are prone to motion sickness, take Dramamine or Bonine at least 30 minutes before departure. Wristbands and ginger supplements also help. Let the captain know so they can adjust speed and course.

Catch & Release vs. Keep Your Catch

We support both catch-and-release and harvest fishing, depending on the species and your preference. Conservation is important to us, and our captains follow all federal and state regulations regarding size limits, bag limits, and protected species.

Catch and Release

Billfish such as sailfish and marlin are always released alive. Our crews are trained in proper billfish handling to maximize survival rates. We use circle hooks to minimize gut-hooking and will take photos and measurements before a quick, safe release.

Keep Your Catch

For species such as mahi-mahi, tuna, snapper, grouper, and wahoo, you are welcome to keep your catch within legal limits. Our mate will fillet and bag your fish at the dock at no extra charge. Many local restaurants in South Beach will even cook your catch for you upon request.

Tips for First-Time Anglers

Never been deep sea fishing before? No problem. The majority of our guests are first-timers, and our captains love introducing newcomers to the sport. Here are a few things to keep in mind.

  1. Listen to the mate. They will show you how to hold the rod, set the drag, and fight the fish. Follow their instructions and you will have a much better experience.
  2. Start with a half-day trip. Four hours is plenty for a first outing. If you love it, you can book a longer trip next time.
  3. Let the crew handle the equipment. Our rods and reels cost thousands of dollars. The mate will set everything up for you and hand you the rod when a fish strikes.
  4. Stay hydrated. Sun, wind, and excitement can be dehydrating. Drink water throughout the trip.
  5. Expect some downtime. Fishing is not non-stop action. There will be quiet periods between bites, so bring a positive attitude and enjoy the scenery.
  6. Tip the mate. Industry standard is 15-20% of the charter cost. The mate works incredibly hard, from rigging baits at dawn to cleaning your fish after the trip.
